Booking
How do we book?
Pick your trip on this site, then the length, the date and a start time, and book it. Your confirmation comes by email right away, and you pay at the end of your trip. Rather talk it over first? Call or text (786) 730-7840.
How many can come?
Up to six on the Caymas and four on the Contender, and the boat is yours. The offshore and tarpon trips go on the Caymas; the cruises are on the Contender, and the other fishing trips can go on either boat, so for a group of five or six, call or text (786) 730-7840 and we'll put you on the Caymas.
Where do we meet the boat?
At Safe Harbor Angler House, 80500 Overseas Highway in Islamorada (mile marker 80.5, on the bay side across from Midway Cafe). Parking at the marina is free, and we'll text you where to find the boat the day before your trip.
What if we need to cancel?
Cancel at least 3 days before your trip and it's free. If the weather calls it off, we'll find you a new day, or cancel it at no charge.
The trips
What's included?
Rods, reels and tackle, live bait and lures, your fishing license, and cleaning and filleting your catch so it's ready to take home. Water and ice are on board too.
Can we bring kids?
Yes, kids are more than welcome. Our family trips are built for them, and the crew loves teaching kids to bait a hook, cast and reel in their first fish. Dogs aren't allowed on board, for everyone's safety and comfort.
What can we catch?
Amberjack, cobia, mahi, black and gag grouper, kingfish, sailfish, red and yellowtail snapper, tarpon, blackfin tuna and wahoo, depending on the season and the trip. Some species have their own seasons and limits; ask your captain.
What kind of fishing do you do?
Inshore, nearshore, reef, wreck, flats and offshore fishing, up to 10 to 15 miles out. Depending on the spot and the fish, we use light and heavy tackle, bottom fishing, trolling, spinning, jigging and kite fishing, and we tailor each trip to the conditions and what you want to catch.
On board
What should we bring?
Sunscreen (non-spray, please), sunglasses, and your own drinks and snacks; there's plenty of ice and storage. Alcohol is fine in moderation, but no hard liquor or glass bottles.
Do we keep our fish?
Yes. We'll clean and fillet your catch so it's ready to take home. Some fish, like tarpon and goliath grouper, are catch and release.
What's on the boats?
GPS, radar, a chart plotter, VHF radio and sonar, life jackets for everyone, a baitwell, rod holders, a big bow sundeck and a sound system. The Caymas adds a thermal camera for finding birds and bait offshore; the Contender has a trolling motor and Power-Pole anchors for the flats and sandbars.
